Resorts World Manila reopens gaming floor

Two years after a deadly attack on the gaming floor, Resorts World Manila reopens the second floor of its casino area.

Philippines.- Travellers International Hotel Group (TIHGI), owner and operator of Resorts World Manila, has announced that the second floor of its casino area will be reopened in July. This will happen almost two years after a gunman started a fire that killed 36 people.

Kingson U. Sian, TIHGI president and CEO, said that the company expects double-digit growth in gross gaming revenues (GGR) after the opening of the second floor. He said that it will take up 7,000 square meters and will feature 100 gaming tables and 600 slot machines.

“That will be an entire new floor of gaming space, so as we expand the gaming space, we are attracting not only locals but also foreign players to come, and we can develop new junket relationships cause we can provide new space,” said Sian.

After it reopens, Resorts World Manila will have a total of 165 tables and 1000 slot machines in the casino’s Grand Wing. The Garden Wing also features 200 tables and 1300 slot machines.

Furthermore, Sian added that they expect average daily foot traffic to improve to 40,000 to 50,000 by 2020 due to the expansion. The average foot traffic in 2018 was 28,500. Thanks to these numbers, TIHGI expects double-digit growth in GGR.

“We’re coming from a low base, and we’re coming up with new spaces so we’re expanding the gaming revenue. The plan is to sustain it. We’re working hard to complete the new facilities,” said Sian.
