Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp appoints new CFO

Pinder Basi has left a role at Mastermind Toys to join the executive team at OLG.

Canada.- The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has appointed Pinder Basi as its new chief financial officer (CFO).

Basi replaces Lisa Bell-Murray, who is retiring from the post after 30 years.

Basi was previously executive vice president and chief financial officer at Mastermind Toys, helping the company grow from a Toronto-based retailer into a national chain with a growing e-commerce operation.

OLG president and CEO, Duncan Hannay, said: “Pinder is an experienced executive with a proven track record in finance and business with a focus on growth, profitability and collaboration.

“His successes in large transformations will be an asset as we work together to position OLG for a post-pandemic recovery, digital growth, and new opportunities to maximize value for our customers and the people of Ontario.”

Basi said: “I am pleased to be joining OLG and look forward to working with the team at such a crucial and exciting time for the organization.

“I believe my experience with growing companies, in both the retail and e-commerce sectors, and with entertainment content delivery, will assist OLG as it charts its new strategic course.”

In May last year, OLG received a CA$500m loan from the Ontario government to support operational costs during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, gambling activities are set to expand in Canada, after a bill to legalise single-event sports betting was passed in November.
