Monte Carlo Casino 2021: all you need to know before you go

The Monte Carlo casino is open for visitors in 2021. Here’s what you need to know before visiting.

The legendary Monte Carlo Casino in Monaco opened in 1866. Over a century and a half later it still attracts thousands of tourists yearly due to its belle époque architecture and cultural heritage as one of the world’s most famous casinos.

Owned and operated by the Société des Bains de Mer, the casino offers a variety of games including blackjack, craps, English roulette and French roulette – including several digital terminals situated alongside traditional roulette tables.

If you are planning to visit the world-renowned site during the Covid-19 pandemic, this is all you need to know about Monte Carlo Casino’s current operations.

Covid-19 policy

When arriving at the Monte Carlo Casino, ensure you are wearing a facemask and expect to have your temperature checked since this is obligatory under current policy. A face mask must be worn at all times except when eating or drinking.

The amount of people at each table is currently restricted and plexiglass dividers are in place.

Société des Bains de Mer has been certified as compliant with Covid-19 “business restart” sanitary measures by Bureau Veritas France.

Opening Hours

While the casino used to operate from 2 pm until late, the curfew in place in Monaco due to the pandemic means that the casino is currently operating from 12noon until 6.30 pm.

Dress code

The company’s website simply specifies that for the gaming areas “proper attire” is required.

For men, a jacket and tie is strongly recommended. Sports shoes are not permitted. Women also tend to dress up in formal wear.

Those who don’t comply with the dress code are likely to be refused entry to the property.

Pricing

A minimum of 17 Euros is needed to enter the casino: 7 Euros for the entrance fee and a minimum of 10 Euros for credit to be spent at the gambling facilities, bar or restaurants.

Most major currencies can be exchanged for chips at the casino and betting amounts range from 5 Euros to 3,000 Euros.
