MLB’s Washington Nationals to launch stadium sportsbook
The Washington Nationals have announced the launch of a sportsbook at its stadium.
US.- The Major League Baseball franchise Washington Nationals will launch a sportsbook at its stadium in partnership with BetMGM, which launched a betting app in Washington DC last week.
The retail sportsbook is expected to be finished later this season and will be run by the sports betting brand.
The Washington Nationals sportsbook will have to follow the Major League Baseball rules in order to allow betting during matches. According to the rules, fans inside the stadium will not be allowed to access the sportsbook. The sportsbook will allow entrance from the street but not from inside the stadium.
The move makes the Nationals the first MLB franchise to launch a sportsbook inside its venue. DraftKings has been working with the Chicago Cubs to open a stadium sportsbook at Wrigley Field, but the Nationals appear to be launching first.
William Hill has already launched its sportsbook at Capital One Arena, where the NHL’s Washington Capitals and NBA’s Washington Wizards play their home games, becoming the first sportsbook to open inside a professional stadium.
