Boyd Gaming to lay off staff across the US

The casino company Boyd Gaming has announced it will be laying off a number of furloughed employees due to the pandemic crisis.

 U.S.- Casino company Boyd Gaming, which owns 29 properties in 10 states, has announced it will be laying off potentially thousands of employees.

The firm has said that due to closures and restrictions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic recovery will be slow. As a result, Boyd Gaming has confirmed that an unspecified number of furloughed employees will not return to work.

It was previously reported that 2,500 employees in Nevada could be layed off.

The company said in a statement: “While we have been able to reopen most of our properties, we are still facing significant restrictions on our business, and visitation levels remain well below pre-pandemic levels.”

The company has about 10,000 employees in Nevada and another 14,300 across the US in properties in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
