Restrictions will be eased for business and trade travellers who stay for fewer than three months.

Taiwan.- Taipei has decided to lower the level of restrictions for business travellers who enter the island as of June 22.

According to Taiwan’s Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC), short-term business travellers coming into the country will still be tested for Covid-19. They will have to prove they were free of the virus three days prior to entrance, and will then have the chance to apply for shortened home quarantines.

The relaxation of measures will apply only for visitors from the following countries, considered low or mid-risk: New Zealand, Australia, Macao, Palau, Fiji, Brunei, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand, Mongolia and Bhutan, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore.

The list of countries will be reviewed every two weeks.

Visitors will have to come directly from those destinations and not have been anywhere else the 14 days prior to their flight.

The conditions apply only to people travelling for business or trade who will stay in Taiwan for less than three months. Those who plan to stay in the country for more than three months should still observe the 14-day home quarantine after entry.

The CECC stated that “business travelers who meet the conditions listed above should have relevant certificates and documents prepared for the business visit by local companies, travel itinerary, and disease prevention plans, while negative Covid-19 test certificates issued for travellers’ specimens tested within three days prior to their flight to Taiwan should also be prepared for inspection.”

Tourism out of Taiwan to popular gambling destinations in the region such as Macau has decreased due to travel restrictions.
