SJM’s new Cotai casino resort to be eco-friendly
The Grand Lisboa will have features to help protect the environment.
Macau.- The Grand Lisboa Palace, SJM Holdings’ new development in the Cotai area, will have eco-friendly features to help protect the environment, the company says.
The new HK$39 billion (US$5 billion) integrated resort will have heat recovery ventilation systems installed in the bathrooms in all guestrooms, energy-efficient LED lights, temperature sensors, dual-flush water closets and faucets with low-flow fixtures, as well as smart control on curtains that will close automatically when the room is empty, reducing solar heat from the windows and rooms’ cooling loads.
According to a statement by SJM, the IR’s central chiller plant system and building management system will optimise air conditioning operation, with demand-controlled variable speed drives to save energy consumption by controlling the chilled and hot water pumps and air handling units.
SJM has been awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification from the ratings system designed by the US Green Building Council.
The award recognises compliance with strict building standards in areas of sustainable energy, water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, innovation in design and regional priority.
SJM chairman Daisy Ho said: “The Grand Lisboa Palace combines eco-friendliness and luxury by adopting long-term sustainability measures.
“In addition, we work hand-in-hand with our employees to achieve measurable green objectives and encourage them through training, education and communication.
“Environmental performance is crucial to the sustainable development of society, and we strive to build a better home for Macau residents while developing our businesses.”
