Marina Bay Sands reopens 24 hours after closing

Marina Bay Sands closed its doors after two workers tested positive for Covid-19 but has reopened 24 hours later.

Singapore.- The casino resort Marina Bay Sands (MBS) has reopened its doors 24 hours after announcing a temporary shutdown because two workers tested positive for Covid-19.

The casino said in a statement that it would carry out deep cleaning before reopening.

Marina Bay Sands said employees who were in close contact with those who tested positive workers had been instructed to stay at home and monitor their health.

The casino operator also announced it will be operating with revised capacities and stricter safety measures until June 1.

Marina Bay Sands has asked all visitors to use the TraceTogether app, a digital system implemented by Singapore’s government to facilitate the identification of people who may have come into close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.

Guests were also reminded to wear masks at all times, to maintain the one-metre distancing rule and to avoid congregating in groups of more than two persons.

Marina Bay Sands will also have so-called Safe Distancing Ambassadors roaming around the property to remind guests of the measures.

Singapore’s Ministry of Health reported 34 new Covid-19 community cases by noon on Wednesday.

Singapore-Hong Kong air travel bubble delayed until June

Singapore’s Ministry of Transport has confirmed that the planned travel bubble between Singapore and Hong Kong has been put back until at least June.

One of the main requirements for the travel bubble was that the two countries should have zero cases of Covid-19. Hong Kong has met the criteria, but the emergence of new cases in Singapore rules out the arrangement for now.

The Ministry of Transport had previously announced that an air travel bubble with Hong Kong was to begin on May 26.
