Macau second half revenues “unpredictable”
Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng expects a small increase in revenues before Golden Week, but said revenue for H2 is impossible to predict.
Macau.- The chief executive Ho Iat Seng has said he expects gross gaming revenues (GGR) for September to improve slightly on August, but said it was unlikely to be a substantial increase.
The authorities are hoping for bigger numbers in October’s Golden Week holidays, which begin on October 1.
Ho said: “I don’t think GGR would greatly increase this month. We hope more visitors will arrive in Macau in late September and before Golden Week.”
“The pandemic has had such a great impact around the world that we don’t have any reference figures to predict the situation of Macau’s economy in the second half of this year.”
According to the secretary for social affairs and culture, Ao Ieong U, when the situation in other countries becomes stable, the government will consider easing border restrictions on non-resident workers.
