K League to discuss start date on Friday

League to meet with clubs to discuss start date for 2020 season which was postponed due to Coronavirus.

South Korea.- The K League will meet with clubs on Friday to discuss a possible date for the league to get underway after it was forced to postpone the current season due to Coronavirus.

There are 12 teams in K League 1 and 10 clubs in K League 2, with both divisions originally due to kick off on February 29.

Unfortunately due to the Coronavirus pandemic, which has hit South Korea particularly hard, the league postponed the start date indefinitely.

As one of Asia’s premier football markets, resumption of the league is seen as imperative for clubs and their business operations to generate income.

The K League said on Wednesday (April 22) that its board meeting with club executives will take place at 2pm on Friday (April 24) at the Korea Football Association House in Seoul.

On Monday (April 20), the league allowed teams to schedule practice matches against one another.
