Grand Korea Leisure casino sales down 29.6% in February
Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) has reported a 29.6 per cent decline in casino sales month-on-month, from KRW9.72bn (US$8.1m) to KRW6.85bn (US$5.6m).
South Korea.- Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) has shared its financial results for February, posting casino sales of KRW6.85bn (US$5.6m). That’s a drop of 29.9 per cent when compared to the previous month but a rise of 1,250 per cent year-on-year since the Busan casino was shut until February 15, 2021 and the Seoul casino reopened in mid-March 2021 due to Covid-19 countermeasures.
Table game sales were down 32.5 per cent month-on-month to KRW5.149bn while machine game sales were down 14.6 per cent year-on-year to KRW1.35bn.
The casino operator recently shared its financial results for the year 2021. It reported a net loss of KRW113.27bn (US$94.7m) and an operating loss of KRW145.83bn in 2021, compared with KRW88.81bn the previous year.
For the first two months of 2022 combined, GKL casino sales were KRW16.65bn, up by more than 3,000 per cent when compared to the previous year. Aggregate sales for table games in the first two months of the year were nearly KRW13.63bn. Machine game sales stood at approximately KRW2.94bn.
