GKL extends Seven Luck Seoul Gangnam closure until January 8

Grand Korea Leisure has decided to extend the temporary closure of the Seven Luck Seoul Gangnam until Saturday as a new Covid-19 case among its staff was recently detected.

South Korea.- Grand Korea Leisure (GKL) has announced the temporary closure of its Seven Luck Seoul Gangnam will be extended until Saturday, January 8.

The company stated the snap-closure was a “pre-emptive measure” to prevent the “spread of infection” relating to Covid-19. The casino operator also revealed no positive cases had been detected among the venue’s customers.

It was also stated: “During the temporary closure period, we will do our best efforts for your safe stay through strict disinfection and preventive measures.”

The South Korean operator of foreigner-only casinos has recently shared its financial results for the year 2021 during which it posted casino sales of KRW89.58bn (US$74.9m).

The figure was down 51.8 per cent when compared to the previous year and although the company didn’t explain the reasons for the decline, casinos were deeply affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the lack of tourists.

Kangwon Land to keep reduced operating hours until January 16

Another South Korean casino, Kangwon Land, said that its gaming venue will continue operating at reduced hours from 10am to 10pm every day until January 16.

Kangwon Land introduced the restricted hours on December 18, 2021, amid a new rise in Covid-19 cases due to the Omicron variant.

The measure was supposed to be in place until January 2 but the casino operator decided to extend the restriction while authorities did the same with the social distancing rules imposed last month.
