Macau gaming tax collection jumps 203%
The authorities collected US$354.6m in November, one of the best results of the year.
Macau.- The Macau SAR government collected MOP2.83bn (US$354.6m) in gaming tax revenue in November, a jump of 203 per cent from October.
However, according to the latest data released by the Macau Financial Services Bureau, the government collected MOP27.2bn (US$3.4bn) from January to November. That represents a fall of 73.9 per cent from MOP104bn (US$13bn) in the same 11 months in 2019.
The authorities have revised gaming tax estimates more than once this year due to the pandemic and subsequent travel restrictions. Even so, with just one month to go, it seems unlikely that collection will reach the estimated MOP50bn (US$6.26bn) for the year.
It is expected that casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) next year will reach MOP130bn (US$16.28bn).
