Galaxy Macau Phase III could open by the end of this year
While sharing financial results for the fourth quarter of 2021, GEG chairman Dr Lui Che Woo said Galaxy Macau Phase III could open by the end of this year.
Macau.- Galaxy Macau casino resort Phase III is effectively complete and ready to open when market conditions improve. GEG chairman Dr Lui Che Woo said the phase could open by the end of this year but said it was difficult to give a firm timetable under current market conditions.
He said: “Whether it is going to be the end of this year or early next year we will let you know in due course.”
While presenting the financial results for the third quarter of the year 2021, the company had slated the opening of the new Raffles brand hotel at Galaxy Macau for early 2022. However, the launch date was delayed.
Phase III is to feature 1,500 hotel rooms, casino space, a 16,000-capacity arena, and 400,000 square feet (37,161 square metres) of meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions space.
The group’s vice-chairman, Francis Lui Yiu Tung, added: “The commissioning date is not within our control entirely. We have to see the return of the visitors, which is something that the Macau government also wants.
“Basically our construction has been done. We are now taking delivery of the works, and are now working with the government departments concerned. We will support the government so that the permits will be issued in a timely manner for us.”
Galaxy Entertainment said it is firmly focused on the development of Phase IV, which is already well underway.
