Five workers injured at Galaxy Macau Phase III construction site
Macau’s Fire Service Bureau has reported that five workers were injured while working at the Galaxy Macau phase III construction site after a false ceiling collapsed.
Macau.- Five workers have been injured due to the collapse of a false ceiling covering 150 square metres on the construction site for Galaxy Macau phase III.
According to Macau’s Fire Service Bureau, one of the workers fractured an elbow while one needed to be rescued after being trapped under the collapsed ceiling. The other three suffered minor injuries. The company has urged contractors to investigate the accident.
Galaxy Macau Phase III is to feature 1,500 hotel rooms, casino space, a 16,000-capacity arena, and 400,000 square feet (37,161 square metres) of meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions space.
Last year, the casino operator put back the completion date for phase III to the second half of 2021. However, in August the company said it expected to finish works by early next year although an exact date for the opening was not determined.
Galaxy Macau Phase IV is scheduled to take around three years to complete and will cost approximately MOP13.01bn (US$1.63bn).
