Authorities have decided to extend the curfew and the closure of casinos and entertainment venues until June 21 as the Covid-19 positivity rate in the state stands at 14 per cent.

India.- Officials in Goa have extended Covid-19 countermeasures in the state as the rate of Covid-19 cases remains high. 

Goa’s casinos will remain shut until June 21 along with gyms, colleges, schools and bars. Only essential services are allowed to continue operating.

According to authorities, only people with a Covid-19 negative test undertaken 72 hours before can enter Goa. Public transport services are allowed to operate at 50 per cent of their capacity. 

Last week, authorities extended measures in both Goa and Sikkim until June 14. India’s Ministry of Health has reported 472 cases in Goa in the last 24 hours

Casinos in Goa have been closed since April 29. Last month, Delta Corp asked authorities for a waiver on licence fees due to the impact on its venues.

It reported that it is debt-free and has adequate liquidity available to comply with its liabilities and obligations, but management asked the state government of Goa for a reduced payment mechanism for its casino licence fees for the period from April 2020 to October 2020.
