Allwyn has announced that the telecoms giant Vodafone will be supporting its UK National Lottery bid.

UK.- Allwyn, the new name for Sazka Group in the UK, continues to keep up the momentum in its bid to win the Fourth National Lottery Licence.

After appointing Twitter UK MD Dara Nasr to advise on digital strategy earlier in the week, it has now announced Vodafone as its “connectivity partner” for the bid.

Vodafone will be a critical technology partner responsible for helping to digitise the National Lottery operations and services to make them appeal to younger generations.

Anne Sheehan, business director at Vodafone UK, said: “We have provided market-leading connectivity in the UK for more than 30 years, and we understand the technologies that enable the best, most cutting-edge experiences.

“With our innovative portfolio of 4G, 5G, IoT and fixed connectivity solutions, we can ensure in-app, online and retail journeys are simple and reliable for customers across the UK.”

Sazka is competing for the National Lottery licence against longstanding incumbent Camelot, India’s Sugal & Damani, and now Italian lottery operator Sisal. Its bid is being led by former London Olympics chief Sir Keith Mills.

Mills said: “At Allwyn, as part of Sazka Group, we make lotteries better so that they can serve as a force for good. We often do this by bringing the fun back to lotteries that have lost their spark, while always safeguarding our players – ensuring sustainable growth and more money to good causes along the way.

“With innovative partners like Vodafone, an experienced steward in Sazka Group, and an impressive advisory board that includes Justin King and Brent Hoberman, Allwyn is building an exciting and credible future proposition for the UK market.”
