Casinos in Niagara Falls may reopen during stage 3 of Ontario’s reopening from Covid-19 countermeasures, but there remains uncertainty around capacity limits.

Canada.- Ontario’s Stage 2 of reopening from Covid-19 countermeasures allows gaming venues to open, but Niagara Falls’ two casinos have decided to remain closed due to the capacity limits enforced.

Ontario’s “Framework for Reopening our Province“, which was drawn up back in July 2020, allowed casinos, bingo halls and gaming establishments to reopen at stage 2, but with a limit of 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors, not including staff.

The limit has since been upped to 25 per cent inside, but it isn’t yet clear what capacity will be allowed when the province moves to stage 3, which is expected later this month. Both Niagara Falls casinos have been closed for 16 months straight.
