Massachusetts commission releases GGR results

The gaming authority revealed revenue results for Plainridge Park Casino and MGM Springfield.

US.- The Massachusetts Gaming Commission reported on Monday that the month of August 2018 at Plainridge Park Casino and MGM Springfield generated US$24 million in gross gaming revenue (GGR).

Plainridge Park, a category 2 slots facility, is taxed on 49% of gaming gross revenue, and of that total taxed amount, 82% is paid to Local Aid and 18% is allotted to the Race Horse Development Fund. MGM Springfield, a category 1 resort-casino, is taxed on 25% of GGR; those monies are allocated to several specific state funds as determined by the gaming statute.

According to the authority, the state has collected to date approximately US$259 million in total taxes and assessments from Plainridge Park and MGM since the respective openings of each gaming facility. MGM collected approximately US$2.1 million in table games and US$7.3 million in slots, while the other facility totalled US$15.3 million in slots.
