A lawsuit filed by owners of seven Pennsylvania casinos in a bid to shut down the state’s lottery’s online games has been dismissed.

US.- A push to shut down Pennsylvania Lottery’s online gaming operations has failed in court.

Commonwealth Court Judge Renee Cohn Jubelirer has dismissed a lawsuit brought by seven Pennsylvania casinos against the state’s lottery, which launched an online service in 2018.

The casinos had argued that online lottery games used systems comparable to slot machines and casino gaming.

According to operators including Penn National Gaming and Caesars Entertainment, the online lottery violates a 2017 law that prohibits the state lottery from offering casino-style games.

The online vertical represents a major source of income for the Pennsylvania Lottery, heading towards a record-breaking $5bn in sales for this fiscal year.

Mark Stewart, the lawyer representing the casinos, said the operators were considering further legal options.
