Delaware posts sports betting revenue increase

The First State reports that sports betting during September operations totalled US$2.2 million, representing the highest figure this year for Delaware.

US.- Sports betting in the United States keeps improving in most states this year, and Delaware’s September results can be proof of that. The state registered US$2.2 million in revenue in September, representing the highest monthly total this year.

However, when compared to last year’s figures, the total revenue from sports betting in Delaware suffers a major setback. The US$2.2 million figure represents a 31.5% decline when compared to September 2018.

Sports betting handle was US$11.8 million, which is approximately US$5 million lower than September 2018, when the state registered US$16.8 million. It is also around US$100k lower than the highest total in 2019, which was achieved in January.

iGaming revenue rises

Delaware posted a year-high revenue from iGaming operations to US$384k, even though consumers spent less when compared to the previous month. Players won US$11.4 million from iGaming in September.

The record US$384k from September is higher than the previous monthly high in 2019, achieved in May when the state totalled US$313k in iGaming revenue. Moreover, September was the second month in which the state recorded more than US$300k in iGaming revenue in 2019.

The good financial results come even though player spending decreased month on month to US$11.8 million. The figure in August had been US$12.5 million, but the US$11.8 million is similar to the one from May (US$11.7 million).

The local gambling regulator explained that table games totalled US$7.9 million in player spending in September, becoming the biggest vertical and giving operators US$171k in revenue. However, video lottery generated US$192k in revenue from US$3.9 million in bets.
